The wise man and the foolish man-March Week 1 Come Follow Me, Individuals and Families! Fun lesson and craft to share the Wise man and the foolish man story from the scriptures!
Week 1-February 25- March 3rd-Fun Activity
As promised this month for the March Come Follow Me for Families and Individuals I am switching things up! Here is the first week of fun games and Ideas to play with your families as you read in the New Testament!
Of course, simple is the goal but so is fun! This week you will get to do a fun painting activity your kids will love!
As I went over the February 25- March 3rd Come Follow Me Lesson I tired to think of the best way you could help your kids remember the lessons being taught in the New Testament.
The wise man built his house upon the rock lesson, encompasses this weeks reading. I brainstormed different ideas for how to share about the wise man and the foolish man. I thought that to really bring it to life why not get a little crafty!?
The Wise Man and Foolish Man-Rock Painting Craft
How to bring the wise man and the foolish man story to life! My 6-year-old daughter loves to paint! So, I wanted to do an activity she would really enjoy!
I started by trekking out to my backyard and getting some nice big river rocks! I soaked them the night before and let them dry all day before we painted them.
If you are in an area where rocks are not plentiful and just laying around in your yard these are a great option!

Once you have all your supplies it’s important to teach the wise man and the foolish man parable.
How to teach The Wise man and the Foolish Man Parable:
First, start by opening up your scriptures. I think that it’s important to show kids even little ones that the stories and parables taught by Jesus come from the scriptures by physically showing them to your kids. But, for reference, I have included the verses below.
The Wise Man and The Foolish Man Scripture Verses:
Matthew 7:24-27
24 ¶ Therefore whosoever aheareth these sayings of mine, and bdoeth them, cI will liken him unto a dwise man, which ebuilthis house upon fa rock:
25 And the arain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and bbeat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a crock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a afoolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that ahouse, and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Once you have gone over the story and read the scripture verses you can then do the fun activity of painting houses on rocks. I wanted to take this a little further than just painting and also add this quote to further teach the lesson of the wise man and the foolish man. I used a sharpie to write this on each of the rocks before we began. My hope in doing so is that my children we remember the deeper meaning of why the wise man built his house upon the rock and keep the principle in the forefront of their minds.
“Let us build our lives upon a safe and a sure foundation.”
Once the story has been shared and the rocks are ready its time to paint some houses! My kids range from 8-1 so those able to participate had such a fun time! Their rocks ranged greatly but the story and the activity I hope will help them always remember the key principle of building our lives on a firm foundation found in the scriptures of Matthew Chapter 7. Of the wise man and the foolish man.
I hope you enjoy this idea and be sure to pin the graphic below to save it for later and share this idea with your friends
