Christ feeds 5000 with loaves and fishes is the story in this week’s primary lesson. I have a fun fish and loaves handout to help teach this lesson to your primary class.
Loaves and Fishes
To begin this

What do we Learn from the Story of the Loaves and Fishes?
you can find the story of the loaves and fishes in Matthew 14: 13-21
13 ¶ When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.
14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with acompassion toward them, and he healed their bsick.
15 ¶ And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves avictuals.
16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and abrake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they atook up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
21 And they that had eaten were about
This story illustrates that Jesus showed love to others by feeing his followers when they were hungry.
Loaves and Fishes Activity/Game
In the Come Follow Me manual it suggest this idea:
Ask the children to share ways in which someone has been kind to them. What can they do this week to be kind to others? For every answer they give, draw a loaf of bread or a fish on the board. Tell the children that when they do these things, they are following the example Jesus set when He fed the five thousand people who were hungry.
Instead of drawing you will use the loaves and fishes that I have created below. You can also use these as your hand out and give one of each to your students to take home.

I wrote a little poem to send home with the children…
One day Jesus was teaching a multitude.
But they got hungry and needed food.
The apostles said “Send them away”.
But Jesus said “let’s have them stay.
Is there any food to be found nearby?
“Not near enough” was the apostles reply.
A young boy brought up a basket and said.
Here are two fishes, and five loaves of bread.
Jesus blessed them and a miracle took place.
And five thousand were fed by Jesus’ grace.
I want to be kind to others each day
Because my Savior has shown me the way.
I love this thank you so much for sharing!
