“It is Finished” Come Follow Me Primary Lesson Helps-June 17-23
It is Finished- Mark 15, Luke 23, John 19
I always like to begin every Primary Lesson help post with an introduction to the main themes or topics in the Come Follow Me Lesson. This week they include the following:
- Because Jesus died for me, I can be resurrected.
- I can forgive others as Jesus did.
Next, I will include a question and prompt page covering these 3 topics above. I suggest picking one topic as your main focus. Concentrate your teaching efforts on that topic and then perhaps briefly touch on the other two. With only 20 minutes it is not enough time typically to really cover all the themes.
Questions and Prompts- “it is Finished”

these question and prompt will be the foundation of your lesson. I personally use these every week to teach my class. They encourage meaningful discussions. I also include scripture reference for each question to help use the scriptures as the foundation to each answer.
Because we have such a sensitive subject matter this week I strongly encourage you to use the two videos suggest in Come Follow Me. You can link to both below:
Lesson idea #1

The first lesson idea I have for you comes from the following prompt in Come Follow Me:
Describe how the soldiers were unkind to Jesus (see Matthew 27:26–37), and then read Luke 23:34. Explain that when we forgive others, we let go of bad feelings toward them and show love.
This coloring page can serve as a reminder of all that Jesus suffered at the hands of his enemies. Help
Lesson Idea #2

This next idea comes from the following prompt in the Come Follow Me Manual:
Why are you grateful that Jesus Christ died for you? Consider how you can help the children understand the significance of the Savior’s sacrifice for them.
Use the hand out above to list ways that we can stay true to Jesus. That we can honor his sacrifice and stay on the covenant path.
Lesson Idea #3

Once you have done that you can use this coloring page of Jesus Christ on the cross to go with this portion of the lesson.
Lesson Idea #4

The final idea I have for you this week comes from this idea in Come Follow Me:
Share scenarios in which someone says or does something unkind. Invite the children to show how they would forgive that person.
Use these doves to encourage your kids to say sorry. They can write a person’s name on the dove whom they would like to forgive. To remind them to try harder to forgive that person when they go home.
